Exploring the convergence of the metaverse with the real life practice of architecture. We will explore case studies of RL Architects, Urban Planners, Developers and related fields who are interested in using SL as a professional tool. We will also follow the theory, ideas, predictions and technology that will enable this evolution.

So true. The main reason I love virtual collaborations is my real life is busy, it's hard for me to commit to events in my area for various reason. But with Second Life and what the American Cancer Society with their Relay For Life fund raising going on in SL, I can contribute my time as it goes on 24/7. My team spans North America, the UK, and Europe with members, and there always something to be done with promoting, organizing, supporting, networking and more. So ya, I truly believe in virtual collaborations and why I have a "Second Life".

Thank you for this factual and visceral overview of a profoundly disappointing development. While Frank Lloyd Wright was a visionary, those who are managing his legacy are not.

I actually made a camera attachment that accomplishes this too, except it's made with realistically sized (5'-6' tall) avatars in mind.

In addition, I position the camera slightly off-centre to the right. This gives you an "over the shoulder" view, just how most modern videogames approach third person. A menu allows the user to centre the view when necessary, which I find useful for cramped spaces, where there's not much room to either side of your avatar.

Both camera placement and avatar size are big issues for SL. They are responsible for drastically reducing SL's potential (larger buildings take up far more land area and prims), so it is disappointing that LL has yet to address these problems.

On a side note, I'm curious how you measured your avatar. Most scripted height detectors are wrong. If that is how you measured your avatar, you may actually be half a foot or more taller than you realize. Using a pose stand and a prim are the most accurate ways of measuring your avatar, and scripted height detectors that give you something close to your actual height are gradually becoming more common. In addition Meerkat, Rainbow and Emerald Viewer all show avatar height right in the appearance editor (although imperial measurement can be buggy, best to look at the metric measurement and convert that).
